Subject: Lest we Forget
I reckon we all have some memories of the Hollywood scenes of Aircraft and Warships and archive footage of them in action.
It has been the use of aircraft in war that has accelerated the development of the aeroplane and created so many vehicle, warships and aircraft that we can model. Indeed it has probably been the heroic achievements of our forebears that have motivated many RC Hobbyists.
I am amazed by the massive industrial development in producing the many B29 and P51 used in the attack on the Japanese mainland and also by the dedication of the aircrew and support crews.
The planning and coordination that went into those attacks is mind blowing.
The Last Bomb is a moving remembrance of what the War in the Pacific was about
Nominated for a 1946 Academy Award for Best Documentary, Features.
Subject: The real heros
Look for my name on the tails of some of the planes stationed on Tinian. These were my dad's command and always exciting for me to see film footage of flights knowing he might have been piloting one of the planes. Also, if you get a chance take a flight in the only flying B-29 left, FIFI, part of the Commemorative Air Force out of Midland Texas, coming to an air show near you! An experiance you'll never forget.
